Satire

Satire

Satire is a literary term used to ridicule or make fun of human vice or weakness, often with the intent of correcting, or changing, the subject of the satiric attack. A piece of literature designed to ridicule the subject of the work. While satire can be funny, its aim is not to amuse, but to arouse contempt. Jonathan Swift's "Gulliver's Travels" satirizes the English people, making them seem dwarfish in their ability to deal with thoughts, issues, or deeds.

In My Own Words

This is when a comic or article makes fun of humans and there weaknesses. For example one of the biggest websites that shows satire is "THE ONION" this shows different type of political satire. There are different levels of satire depending on the person or the thing that some one is copying. Other topics such as irony can also show different forms of satire.

The Onion

The article that I read from the website was about Eco friendly smoking of cigarettes. This article shows satire because people are talking about trying to make the earth more green but yet they still are doing things to kill the earth such as smoking show the way that "THE ONION" showed a political stand on this was that they created new Eco friendly cigarettes.

Satirized in Taylor Mali

Taylor Mali show satire exists in "The Impotence Of Proofreading" by that he is telling us that there is a big importance of proofreading mean while he himself didn't know how to spell. Then he used spell check to correct his work and since he didn't know how to spell even after using spell check his work still didn't make sense because he failed to proof read and continued to make critical errors. This showed use that even when we can use things to help even if we don't know how to spell it still wont be able to help you understand what you are saying or writing.

Mark Twain

The form that Mark Twain showed in the article called "The Advice To Youth" shows satire by telling the kids the right behavior and what not to do but yet he was acting the opposite way when he was a child and doing the wrong thing. the satire in this speech shows a child the right way to behave and how to act with there parents and in society but as he speaks he tells them how he did the opposite of what hes telling them to do.

Newshoggers

This news paper article is another for that shows satire the article that shows satire is called "The Price Of Carbon" is that how can you say that your a person that wants to end pollution and conserve the environment but yet you would rather have a car that runs on carbon fuel so its like being compared to a crack head they always wanna stop smoking crack but yet they still having the same behaviors and thinking its gonna change on its own."We are addicted to carbon fuels and the pushers are just as nefarious as the pusher of crack cocaine. Both make lots of money as long as your addiction continues."

Satire cartoon

My background shows satire because its trying g to that the bush administration is the super hero's and that there trying to save the world mean while there the one that is trying to kill the world and stop the solider s from coming home and not trying to stop the war in Iraq. This cartoon is also trying to show that Hillary Clinton is the real one that is doing wrong to the world and the one that is trying to kill everyone.

Conclusion

Satire is basically when cartoon's or magazines or newspapers make fun of human nature and show people for who they really are and what they really stand for. Thought out this entire essay if you look over my work i have shown different forms of satire and how other people talk about certain topics.
